1. A French circa 1895 Swinging Mystery - An all original in excellent condition Up-Side-Down Swinging Mystery Timepiece, French, circa 1895. The movement contained in a bronze sphere applied with gilt roman numerals and encircled by a band of colorful polychrome enamel, the whole forming the bob of a grid-iron pendulum held aloft by a figure of a young girl standing on the pond with a cornucopia and oscillating without apparent impulse. There is a mirror in the pond that represents the water. Height, 23 1/2 inches (60 cm).

2. Definitely a rarity, please come and see us at http://www.trantiques.com and click on 'rare sale'

** click http://lonestar.texas.net/~clough/rafaq.html for the long version of the FAQs

Greetings! Now that you have subscribed to the Rec.antiques newsgroup you should be made aware of the fact that we do have rules for posting called the 'FAQs'. This message is sent to all members that have failed to follow at least one of the guidelines listed below in our short form of the FAQs**, We as members of this newsgroup work very hard to maintain this as a viable forum for the discussion of Antique items , so it helps a great deal if new members are informed of the rules and avoid flame wars. Please note that everyone who fails to follow the rules will usually receive a email like this one, so don't feel you have been singled out of the crowd;~)).

The short form of the rules for posting

1. Do not post ads of any sort, we have seen them all, don't even try.

2. Do not post images, post an url where we can go and look at them.

3. Never, re-post private email

4. Always provide full information, the material the item it is made of, it's length , width , colour and identification marks or numbers of any kind.

5. Never just ask ' What's it worth ', this group is for the discussion of Antique & Collectible items at least fifty years old and is not a buy and sell site . If you require an appraisal contact me and I can give you the url's for several Appraisal Associations that will be happy to help you out.
