I recently purchased this neat bed with clam shaped, curved headboard. Appears to have required a lot of craftsmanship. I'm uncertain as to the style and age, and haven't found any luck from local shops. If you can help identify it, then I'll know what pieces to look for to compliment it. Thanks!

It appears to be Victorian era and a reproduction of an earlier period of Louis XV walnut beds. I have not seen one like yours but that style was all about grand and ornate walnut headboards of great height. Yours is late 1800s as a guess from a photo.

Paste this into google images and see what I mean.

Hello. As beautiful and remarkable as it is, as a full size bed, in perfect condition, it would be a retail sale of $250 to $300 in central Virginia in a vintage retail setting.

Please don't get me wrong, the market in Antiques and Collectibles is in the tank. Anyone in the business will wonder, aloud and often, will people buy good antiques again? Ever again?
