My daughter has inherited a small Wedgewood dish and a Wedgewood vase. Both need cleaning but as they are unglazed she assumes that washing up liquid would not be OK. No one in the family knows anything about Wedgewood. Could someone offer some advice on how to clean these pieces safely at home; there is no money for professional cleaning. Advice much appreciated.

Wedgwood (only one 'e' can safely be cleaned with hot soapy water and a toothbrush (if needed). In fact, I usually just throw mine in the dishwasher, and over many years, have never had a problem.
