I have a Foster-McDavid Dining Room Table that has 3 leaves and 8 leather high-back chairs. It is a Circa 1960s table in beautiful condition. I think it is made of walnut. I was wondering what it may be worth. If anyone has any insight please let me know.
Thank you for your time.

I wanted to add a picture if the table and one of the 6 chairs. If anyone has any information regarding this piece I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Rob

Interesting, This table was manufactured by my fathers factory. The table is in fact walnut. The top is matched walnut flitches with a solid walnut octagon base. I have an old brochure that shows the original price with chairs both side and are. I think that the upholstery is naugahide not leather unless reupholstered.

That is great! Thank you for your response. How can I find out what it is worth? Unfortunately, I can not keep it because I am moving with my fiance and there is no place to put it. Any ideas?

Thank you very much for your response.

Yes. I have a table with 4 chairs, hutch and buffet. All in great condition. The set was purchased in NYC, not sure when. I was also curious the value.

Hello,
Does Foster McDavid still manufacture furniture? Or is it by some other name?

Hi, I recently purchased a dining set almost identical to the one you have posted. I saw it and fell in love with it instantly, so my impulses told me to purchase it right away without doing much research, as there were other interested buyers. I was wondering, did you receive any information on what it is worth?

I don't think they are still in business. What I was told when I purchased a table 6 chairs, buffet and hutch was that it was a group of Michigan furniture makers who had retired to the Tampa area, got bored and started their own company.

Hi Robert- I have a similar dinning set as the one pictured above. I was wondering if you can give me the original price and what you think it is going for today.

I also have 6 chairs so, I'm not able to judge any price for your dinning table.

Hi Foster McDavid was made in Tampa from the 1950's - 1972. Most of the furniture was solid walnut. They sold their furniture through local interior designers and also at the furniture market in High Point NC. There is no way to price the furniture in today's market because it is difficult to find solid walnut today. My father,Robert Foster,Sr designed all of the furniture and Mac McDavid ran the factory. I imagine a dining set went for a few thousand dollars but with this recession I have no idea what it is worth now.

Your Dad's furniture is beautiful! I just came across 6 dining room chairs and immediately fell in love with them - in the words of the vintage expert I brought them to for valuation "they are unlike anything I've ever seen." Except now I've seen one other set online

Hi, I was looking at the furniture site and saw your table and chairs. Did you ever find out the value of it? My aunt has the same one. I am just curious; this was a while ago - 5 years? Well anyway, please get back to me if you can with any info you have. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much, Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, it seems that mid century modern is very popular now and hard to find,I'd price it closer to $5,000 with the chairs. Foster McDavid was designed and built in Tampa and shown in Miami and High Point furniture markets where stores and designers would order it. McDavids son later made "Florida" furniture for resort type homes.

Hello,
This is a question for Robert Foster, Jr. Would you be able to post the brochure you mentioned on the internet or any of the original Foster-McDavid catalogues? There seems to be a lot of interest for Foster-McDavid furniture and I'm sure there would be a lot of other folks, including myself, that would find those documents of vast interest, not to mention their historical significance.

I just came across by happenstance the octagon table myself a few weeks ago and was blown away by the beauty and the craftsmanship. Yesterday, I purchased the six chairs in black, the credenza and the hutch, all in pristine condition.

For the record, I paid $4,500 for the entire set.

As a testament to the growing collectibility of Foster-McDavid, the gentleman that I purchased the set from said the chairs received a lot of attention. He only had the chairs up on the internet for a mere day and received nearly 20 inquiries!

Can you please tell me where you bought your set, and/or what site the seller posted on? I have a set that I want to sell, and if he still has interested buyers, I would like to get a hold of him. Thanks, so much!

To Helene -- These are the two places that I purchased those pieces:

(1) VariousModernObjects on Etsy

(2) gothemretro516 on eBay
