Greetings all: Thanks in advance for any and all help. Recognize this mark? This mark is on a saucer that came with other translucent porcelain pieces including a well marked Lenox Belleek tea pot circa 1920's. I have been unable to locate any info about it. Image URL:

I went through mu copy of Godden's encyclopaedia of British pottery marks - generally accepted as THE reference.

I'm afraid that I didn't fgind your mark - a company called Hobson's used a horse's head mark, but it clearly is not a unicorn.

The Tunstall firm of Wedgwood & Co (NOT Josiah Wedgwood's company) operated the Unicorn and Pinnox Works in Tunstall and did use a unicorn mark - but it isn't the same as yours and doesn't have an 'M' in it. Also, they are only listed as producing earthenware and stone china.

I would be interested to hear if you do find out which company it is.

Hi Phil, The original poster posted in another NG that they had indeed found the same mark, on a _silver_ site. (I've posted the link below showing the unicorn)

I thought this was very interesting, and in fact might help identify other marks on pottery, ceramic or china that do use metal as decoration on the finished product.

Don't know why the OP didn't respond here, but I wanted to share their results with you.
