General notice to all:

Back to basics (I am having another ((SENIOR MOMENT)) :o)

Pulling the plug on the Internet at the end of the month, computer hardware and software upgrades, and T.V. the end of the month.

It is to easy for this old body spending time on these things and no being productive. A garden can raise food for the body. My small wood shop can turn out furniture repair and make some fun primitives, etc. of value. This does not take much money to maintain. To much time at the computer learning HTML and use of source codes, etc. etc. scanning pictures, jpeg, gif. tiff. etc. etc. 72 dpi !!! uploading, downloading. Only thing worth while is eBay. That gets to be a drag. Bitch, Bitch Bitch. !!!

When a business overextends itself sooner or latter the bank says you have borrowed more than you are worth. We are calling in your loans. I can't afford the time or money anymore for this stuff.

That is about where I am. Rather than trying to keep up with the world I need to use what knowledge that I have and use it productively and not waste money and time financing the development of the computer revolution, complaining about my aches, pains and how good it was in the old days.

Web pages for your own business is still the thing of the future in most cases. There is not enough every day demand to make it worth while. The money, I think, to be made is designing web pages for others and let them spend their money. Web page design tools are still to primitive and changing to fast and expensive to keep up with unless you are working for some one to finance the expense.

My web page at http://www.olympus.net/personal/cboland/ get no hits. I have put it on all the search engines for a month now or so. I did all the Meta Tags, etc. I had it tested for content and it was fine with the search engines. Even if the antique items on the web page where not of interest at least some one would come check it out and I would get a hit. The market is just not ready for the small business persons web pages.

I can not let it drop there. I do not believe in Globalization or genetic screwing around. We need to be able to protect the industries that produce our basic needs and also let evolution take care of the genetics.

Have a good frigin day. :o(

I think your links are messed up some way.....the 'other dealers' page has some great stuff; is it yours or whose? I think this is some of your problem. Sorry it isn't working for you.

Claude, you have made a lot of good points here. I realize this was born of frustration, but you're right: there's a huge investment of time and learning (not to mention equipment and software) involved in getting the business online. The number of hits my web site gets definitely does not justify the investment, so I've given up selling there.

Sometimes the wisest thing to do is to chuck it all and get back to basics. Or at the very least take a nice long break.

Best of luck to you.
