Hi Charles, I'm glad I waited to read your reply before writing one of my own. Yours was a reply worth reading. I agree with all you said. The insides of a 90 year old musty trunk is a terrible smell hard to live with. I collect trunks and they all have had facelifts, including one with the dark red canvas left on with stars embossed on the metal. I paid considerably less for that one though. Thanks for coming out of lurkdom to post and in such a honest and entertaining way.

Hi Charley, I couldn't agree with you more, a old trunk is a old trunk, unless of course it's from the Titanic :~)). I too have a bone to pick with the 'Keno Brothers ' and their never restore anything mantra. The big houses routinely 'clean up' ( read restore, refinish & replace ) in their own shops before the sale
