Can anyone help? I have a timber tray(walnut,I think) type object, approx 12in x 24in, with a brass sheet floor, over the timber tray floor. This has a square rigged sailing ship etched/embossed into it.There is also the number 45 in large script ,top and bottom of the ship. It has a mounting hole in the back as if to hang it. On the top of the front of the item are separate timber hinged pieces that are numbered 1-9.These are like a lid to a shelf inside. If it is hung, these numbered flaps hang down in a closed position over the small shelf, they do not, cannot stay in the open position. It is very well made,so I think that it is a professional tradespersons work.I have asked at quite a few antique dealers and no-one can help me with what it is or was used for.I would like some help in identifying the object and its use. I will try to post a pic later to help someone help me. Thanks in advance. , Nicko

Certainly post a picture - other wise it is hard to help...
Also - your question was not really very clear - what is it exactly that you want to know?
