Hi Reyne, I see we aren't above name calling, are we? So I put the ad on the wrong group listing. I'm so glad that my words get twisted so I'm calling 'all east coast ' dealers dishonest. The east coast, last time I looked went from Maine down to Florida. Come now, I was talking about problems in the Northeast- the northern mid- Atlantic-southern New England area. And no am not accusing you of any wrong doing personally. Why is it that those in the biz, can talk about less then honest stuff that occurs; but God forbid a regular person talk about it. You people bring it up all the time, yourselves. I've heard positive things about the antiques world of the New South. IMHO the real future of the biz is probably in the South, midwest and west. The economic picture of these regions is better and the movement of people west means a greater diversity of antiques in the business. You just don't understand the economic picture of my region. The forces driving everything from antiques to the housing market that is occurring here is very different. It's a different world when you need an income that will give you enough money to pay the mortgage on a $200,000 to $300,000 older house to live in a nice, safe area with decent schools for the kids. Live in an area with houses under $200,000 and you take your chances. The yuppie decorator market decides what antiques if any are 'in'. Most people here with money hire one to furnish a house. I've seen more dealers around here add 'interior decorator' to their name as a result. What I've stated is from personal experience, research, observation and some of it has come out of the mouths of people in the business, itself. I'm NOT accusing all you dealers of being dishonest. I'm saying simply that there is a problem with less then honest individuals, probably due to economic desperation, in my area. Please, no more name calling-it stifles real, honest dialogue into stupid flame wars which doesn't solve anything.
